Drone Footage

We can use drones in our wedding videography to capture stunning shots of your venue, grounds and surrounding landscapes.

Drones have become commonplace with photographers and videographers. However, rules and regulations mean it’s now essential that companies and their pilots have permission from the CAA (Civil Aviation Authority) to fly a drone for commercial reasons. Most venues now ask to see the company's CAA permission and public liability insurance details before they are allowed to fly on their property. Of course we are happy to say that we hold all of these and can fly safely and legally in just about any venue or area that will allow it.

The drone we use at weddings is the DJI Phantom 4 Pro+, it’s a high end aircraft that captures stunning 4k images that really complement our shots taken on the ground.

As with all of our films and editing, everything remains in-house, no random person who you haven’t met before will fly the drone and we can keep the crew to a minimum, rather than turning your big day into a film set!

Of course one of our most important rules is to remain as discreet as possible at all times. This is why we would never fly a drone during an outside ceremony (even though we are sure the registrar would never allow it anyway!) and we don’t want to ever detract from your special day at any point, so we would always keep a discreet distance, whilst being able to get some fantastic footage.

Drones of all types cannot operate in heavy wind or any kind of rain. During the day we would always look for an opportunity to fly, if we haven’t already been able to do so. However, on the rare occasion that we cannot launch at all, we will of course refund your money for the drone footage.

We charge £250 for use of the drone and editing the footage into your film. This can be added to any package.

Not all venues allow drones on their property, regardless of permission from the CAA. Please do check with them to make sure they are happy for us to fly a drone during the day.

We have a drone FAQs page that may help answer any further questions you may have about this particular area of wedding videography.

If you have any other questions about wedding videographers using drones, please do let us know by using our contact us page. It’s an amazing extra angle of your day and really can a stunning cinematic edge to your wedding film.
