What are 'cinematic wedding films'?
Cinematic wedding films are filmed, composed and edited in a different way to the old fashioned idea of wedding videos. Long gone are the days where couples would receive a 4 hour VHS tape full of shaky long shots and blurry images all filmed in real time. Cinematic films are all about producing a beautiful keepsake for couples getting married, filled with footage and sounds that reflect the emotions of the day in a creative and stylish way. For more information we have created a page that goes into more detail about cinematic films.
Do you film weddings outside London and Surrey?
Yes, we often film in the surrounding counties of Berkshire, Hampshire, Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire and we also cover the whole of the UK, Ireland and destination weddings (charges may apply for weddings further afield).
Will you get in the way at our wedding?
We are as discreet as possible whilst still being able to capture the best shots. We don't set up shots or ask you or your friends and family to pose for the cameras, our aim is to capture people acting naturally. We want you and your guests to enjoy the day, without at all feeling self conscious. We use long lenses during the ceremony and speeches (where possible) so we don't encroach on your special moments.
How long will the film be?
Our standard method of producing wedding films is with a 'short-form' edit. This is on average a 15-25 minute film. It features all the footage from the day with clips and audio from your speeches and ceremony used throughout set to the music of your choice. On top of this we also provide the full length ceremony, speeches and first dance as a separate 'special feature' on your USB. Combined, you will receive around 40-140 minutes of footage.
Films created with a 'traditional edit' include the same footage but are edited in a much more chronological style and include the speeches, ceremony and first dance within the main film, they run on average between 40-140 minutes.
You can read more about 'short-form' and 'traditional' edits at this page, along with an example of a full wedding film.
Can we choose our own music for the wedding film?
Of course! We normally ask for tracks of music that we can use, this makes the finished wedding video more personal to you. We will sort out all the licences for these tracks and they are included in each wedding package.
Are there any other licence or copyright issues?
Where there are live performances from musicians at an event, we ask you to confirm beforehand whether you have their permission to film them and/or if a licence is required. We ask that you also confirm the wedding and reception venue are willing to allow filming and/or if a licence is required. You will be responsible for paying any such licences but obviously we are happy to provide information and advice.
Do you use drones in your wedding films?
Yes, we are very proud to have been granted permission by the CAA to fly drones commercially including at weddings. It’s a legal requirement that anyone flying a drone at a wedding must have the CAA’s permission to do so. Most venues are now asking to see videographers’ paperwork, alongside their insurance and public liability in regards to flying drones.
Drone footage can be added to any of our other packages as an extra. You can find more information on our dedicated drone page, here. We also have a drone FAQs page which hopefully answers any questions you may have.
Do you meet us before the wedding?
Absolutely! We can meet before the wedding if you wish. A face to face meeting is great, but sometimes this may not be not possible, so we are able to video call or phone if this is more convenient.
Where have you filmed before?
We have been lucky enough to film at many amazing wedding venues in Surrey, Hampshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, London and throughout the UK. We have an ever increasing list of wedding venues that cover just some of our favourite locations. You can also see on our 'About Us' page the venues that we are lucky enough to be recommended at.
How is our film sent to us?
We deliver all your edited films as standard on a USB, this is the best way to future-proof your memories. The files on the USB are full HD 1080p and will be compatible with computers and even many smart TVs.
For an additional fee we can also deliver all of the films on DVD, with personalised designs and menus. Please see our extras and add ons page for more detail.
We also provide an online link, which is password protected, to watch your highlights film for the All Day and All Day Plus packages and also the full feature for the All Day Plus package.
Do you come to the wedding rehearsal?
Yes, of course we can attend, if you are happy with that. It can often help us to choose our shots and plan locations for the camera and recording equipment. However, depending on the location of the wedding there maybe an extra charge to cover expenses.
What equipment do you use?
We shoot our weddings using professional cinematic camera equipment, filming in full HD and usually, additional cameras to ensure we gain a wide variety of shots.
During the ceremony we will use a discreet lapel mic on the groom, small field recorders to pick up the readings and/or musicians and a shotgun microphone mounted on the camera. For the speeches we will discreetly use our lapel mics and field recorders. If possible we always like to take a feed from a venue's PA system or sound board if possible to get the best quality sound recording.
We also have a range of camera support systems, so we can get those extra special shots, such as sliders, steadicam and various tripods/monopods. We bring all of our equipment with us to each wedding and will use them wherever possible. It's all very lightweight and portable, so you don't need to worry that you have invited a large scale film crew to your wedding!
Do you offer the raw footage?
We don’t offer the raw footage, but please be assured that we will include all the footage that we can and we don’t have an automatic ‘cut-off’ length when editing our films.
How long does the film take to complete?
To create a film to the standard we produce takes time so we aim to have the film ready within 4 - 6 weeks of your wedding date. We don't want to rush our edits, we spend the time carefully crafting your wedding film to ensure we create the best wedding video possible.
Do you film same sex weddings?
Of course we have filmed many same sex and gay weddings over the years and we are proud to film any couple looking to declare their love for each other. You can read more about LGBTQ+ weddings and see an example film on our same sex and gay marriage page.
