Wedding videography with drone footage | W4 Wedding Films
We are pleased to announce that we are now offering our wedding videography with drone footage.
We have been granted a PfCO (Permission for Commercial Operations) from the CAA (Civil Aviation Authority), which means we are legally allowed to film weddings with a drone. Many wedding venues throughout Surrey, Berkshire, Hampshire and London are making sure videographers and photographers have this important qualification before they can fly their drones.
To gain the PfCO companies must create a two volume ‘operations manual’ which sets out their practices and procedures. Companies must also attend a course and pass an exam as well as a practical test. After these are all completed successfully, the CAA will deem them to be safe and competent pilots and will allow them to film commercially.
Drone footage in wedding films can be a fantastic addition and an amazing alternative angle on your day. From stunning footage of your venue to unique views of your guests during the drinks reception, these aerial shots are a perfect addition to a couple’s film.
We use a Phantom 4 Pro+ which is a fantastic aircraft that films amazing shots in 4K.
Of course discretion is key for us when we film any wedding and we don’t want a drone to disturb you or your guests, so it would never be used in an outdoor ceremony and we are always careful to be respectful and discreet.

Unfortunately due to the nature of these aircraft, no type of drone can fly in adverse weather conditions, such as strong wind or rain. We will always keep a close eye on the weather in the build up to a wedding and on the day we will always try to find a time to get some wonderful images. However, in the rare case that we can’t, we will of course refund you the cost of the drone add on.
Drone footage at weddings is becoming a staple of wedding videographers’ work and we really believe it can add such a unique and special view on the day. Of course nothing can beat cameras on the ground capturing the sights and sounds of the day and this will always be at the core of any film we make, but we love having the option to fly high in the sky above the best day of your life!
